Maya Run Cycle

I have created a test animation in maya of a run cycle to explore how best to use the program in this context. I have found that by creating key frames of all the main poses and then editing the frames in between, I can create some good movement.


There are problems with this walk cycle, as it looks like the feet are sweeping the floor instead of walking along it. The poses I think are pretty good, but I need to work out why it doesn't seem quite believable enough.


In this second playblast, I have moved the model instead of having it run on the spot to test out how I could animate the movement and the velocity separately. Also, I was attempting to test out ways of creating more believability in the way the character runs. I thought that by moving it along I could show the impression that it is in fact running, however it still does not seem realistic. The feet still seem to graze the floor instead of step down on it.
